San Beda overpowered skidding Lyceum, 89-73, to book the first Final Four berth in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament yesterday at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Red Lions, runners-up last season, led from start to finish against the struggling Pirates to remain in the Top 2 with a 12-4 win-loss record.
It was San Beda’s 11th straight Final Four appearance since 2006, with the Red Lions still eyeing the twice-to-beat advantage with only two games left in the second round eliminations.
Arellano meantime banked on Jio Jalalon anew as the Chiefs dumped defending champions Letran Knights, 83-74, to join San Beda in the semis.
Jalalon flirted with a triple-double for the Chiefs after finishing 22 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.
Letran is at sixth place with 8-8 to put its Final Four hopes in peril. (Kristel Satumbaga)
