A woman, who allegedly uses a teenager to peddle drugs, was nabbed while in possession of 52 sachets of shabu in front of a supermarket in Caloocan last Thursday night.
Police said the suspect, Cherryl Ranes, 35, of Malabon City, was arrested along with a 16-year-old high school male student, who, according to probers, was being used as a drug courier.
Prior to the suspect’s arrest, the Northern Police District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) received intelligence report about the presence of a drug peddler in front of a supermarket in Sangandaan, Caloocan City.
Police operatives proceeded to the area around 10 p.m. where they caught Ranes handing illegal drugs to the teenager.
Retrieved from Ranes’ coin purse were 52 sachets containing shabu worth P26,000, according to PO3 John Cezar Mendoza, case investigator.
NPD director Senior Supt. Roberto Fajardo said that drug pushers are now using children as carriers of illegal drugs.
“Because of our intensified measures, they are now using children to peddle drugs. But I will tell them frankly that using children will not work so they should stop,” Fajardo said. (Jel Santos)
