The sister of celebrity Maritoni Fernandez was shot dead by unidentified gunmen early yesterday morning inside a district of exclusive subdivisions in Quezon City.
Police named the victim as Aurora Ma. Moynihan, 45, of Ecology Village, Makati City. She was identified through the postal identification found in her bag.
PO3 Anthony Tejerero of the Quezon City Police District homicide section confirmed the relationship between the victim and Fernandez, a character actress, model, and entrepreneur.
The victim’s body was claimed by stepfather Eduardo Fernandez, according to Tejerero.
Her body was found on the sidewalk on Temple Drive near the corner of Giraffe St. She wore a blood-stained white T-shirt and jacket, a pair of jeans, and rubber shoes.
Beside her was a black bag containing R470 cash, four small sachets of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia, mobile phones, few pieces of jewelry, and other personal belongings.
Also found near the victim’s body was a cardboard placard which reads: “Drug pusher ng mga celebrities, kasunod na kayo.”
Witnesses told police that a silver Toyota Fortuner stopped in front of a house on Temple Drive before hearing successive gunshots emanating from the vehicle.
After the Fortuner left, the witnesses went to check and found the body.
Police said Moynihan died of five bullet wounds in her chest. Spent shells from a caliber .40 handgun were recovered near the body.
Police said witnesses failed to see the vehicle’s plate number.
Later in the day, a man, introducing himself as the stepfather, claimed the body, but did not fill out information.
The staff of the funeral parlor did not provide any additional information.
The QCPD said it is investigating Moynihan’s possible links to illegal drugs.
QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said they are going after celebrities involved in the illegal drug trade. (Vanne Torregoza)
