Former Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago is again at the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital and is in critical condition.
Sources said that the feisty Miriam, who has been battling Stage 4 lung cancer, is back at the ICU, this time at the St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City, Taguig City.
According to sources, she has been at the ICU since September 3.
The last time the former lawmaker was rushed to the ICU was May 31 at the Makati Medical Center due to “complications.”
Miriam as diagnosed with cancer in 2014 but later announced she was able to “conquer” her illness.
However, she developed anorexia as side effect of her continuous medication.
Despite this, she was able to bounce back and run for president in the May 2016 elections with Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. as her vice president.
During the campaign, Miriam rarely held sorties due to her illness. She skipped the second presidential debate organized by the Commission on Elections as he was undergoing clinical trial of an anti-cancer drug. (Hannah L. Torregoza)
