Sen. Leila M. de Lima has urged the Senate Electoral Tribunal to deny and dismiss the election protest of former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis N. Tolentino against her, saying his allegations of electoral fraud and anomalies in the May 2016 automated elections were unfounded.
De Lima said Tolentino’s amended electoral protest is a “mere harassment suit” and that the 1,332,972 vote lead she had over the former MMDA chief is a “substantial lead, an honest to goodness substantial lead.”
The neophyte lawmaker also said Tolentino miserably failed to concretely show how she may have supposedly done the fraud and anomalies he claims that were perpetrated against him, saying that all he had shown in his 60-page protest are “sweeping allegations” that the results were rigged by Smartmatic and the Commission on Elections.
