Actress-model Isabelle Daza married her long-time French fiance Adrien Semblat during a simple church ceremony in Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy last Saturday.
Former senator and vice presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. walked Isabelle down the aisle on her wedding day. Isabelle wore a white Vera Wang wedding gown.
Marcos stood in place of Isabelle’s father Gabriel “Bong” Daza III who passed away in July due to heart attack, according to social media posts. Isabelle said that she would push through with her wedding despite her father’s death.
“What a happy day! All of us who love you have our hearts full of joy for you and Adrien on this happiest of days. I feel the warmth of your father Bong’s smile on us as we wish you all the love, happiness and success as you embark on your new life together as husband t and wife. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Daza-Semblat,” said Marcos on his Facebook.
Other guests at the wedding included cousins Georgina Wilson, Jessica Diaz-Wilson, Martine Cajucom, Bea Soriano, Solenn Heussaff, Anne Curtis-Smith and fiance Erwan Heussaff, Tim Yap, Rajo Laurel, Liz Uy, Pia Guanio, Raymond Gutierrez.
Also present at the wedding was former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, mother of the bride.
In February, the beauty queen-turned-actress admitted that she was not ready to accept the decision of her daughter to marry her French boyfriend this year.
Diaz said then that she was not against Semblat, country manager for a famous sportswear brand, whom she describes as a nice person.
“Siguromga 30 pwedena. I got married when I was 36 atdalawa pa angmgaanak mo. Baka 30 pwedena. She’s too young,” Diaz said. “Akonga I’ve been going with my boyfriend for 19 years, hindi pa rinako ready,” said Diaz, in an interview then on ABS-CBN.
Isabelle, 28, eldest daughter of Diaz, and Semblat have been in a relationship for six years before they announced their plans to get married in Tuscany. Semblat proposed to Isabelle in Turkey in 2015.
“I am excited to go on this journey with you and I’m excited to start our life together,” Isabelle told Semblat recently.
Diaz, 64, later changed her mind and suggested that Isabelle could get married when she reaches 35. “Hands up. I will push against the wall. Di naakomakakaimik. It’s not my choice eh. I can only suggest. Why not at 35?”
In August, Isabelle thanked her mom for all the support and advice.
“My mom is always there to give me words of advice in times of need. Laginiyangsinasabina, ‘Don’t give up, you have to be strong.’ And ganuntalagaangbuhay, maypinagdadaanan. Sometimes God is preparing you for harder things in life, and she always tells me to pray,” she said in an interview on PEP.
Isabelle also said that she will not leave show business. The “Tubig at Langis” star said that she and husband willreside in the Philippines.
