STA. ROSA, Laguna – Three men were killed yesterday following a car chase and a shootout with police operatives in Barangay Tagapo.
The identities of the slain suspects were still being checked, according to Senior Superintendent Joel C. Pernito, Laguna PPO director.
The suspects, aboard a Toyota Altis with plate number EBE 962, were flagged down around 1:29 a.m. by lawmen inside Mobile Patrol 153.
Instead of heeding the cops’ order, the suspects sped off toward Balibago, triggering a chase.
Nearby operatives were alerted about the fleeing suspects.
Highway Patrol Group (HPG) operatives spotted the vehicle and gave chase.
The suspects’ vehicle crashed into a roadside as the suspects traded shots with the law enforcers.
Two of the suspects died on the spot while another was brought to the Santa Rosa community hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Recovered from the crime scene were 21 sachets of suspected shabu, the guns used by the suspects and various ammunitions.
The bodies were brought to John Paul Funeral Parlor for autopsy. (DANNY ESTACIO)
