One of the eight cops, who allegedly extorted money from two drug suspects in Caloocan, was arrested in an entrapment operation Tuesday night.
The Northern Police District (NPD), in coordination with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), arrested Police Officer 2 Franklin Menor after he was caught accepting the marked money at around 8:50 p.m. at the NCRPO office in Bicutan, Taguig.
The seven others policemen – Senior Police Officer 4 Dalmacio Robillon, Police Officer 2 JM Canas, Police Officer 1 Jowell del Rosario, Police Officer 1 Livara and Police Officer 1 Nelson Villas, Police Officer 3 Clarito, and Police Officer 3 Lucero – are being hunted by their fellow police officers.
Senior Supt. Roberto Fajardo, NPD director, said that after receiving the complaint of two persons accused of drug peddling, he immediately ordered a team to entrap the cops who were allegedly extorting money.
Reports said the complainants Marilyn Gelua and Kim Allen were arrested by Team 3 of NCRPO’s Anti Illegal Drug unit in Caloocan last September 12.
Gelua and Allen said the cops accused them of carrying drugs and guns.
Fajardo said that the suspects asked Gelua and Allen to produce P150,000 each as they threatened to file a case against them if they would not pay. (Jel Santos)
