ANTIPOLO CITY – Globalport ended its campaign in the PBA Governors’ Cup on a winning note, downing Blackwater Elite, 139-126, last night at the Ynares Sports Center here.
Joseph Yeo scored a personal season-high 37 points, a point shy from matching a career best, while import Michael Glover contributed 34 points and 18 rebounds as the Batang Pier finished the conference with a 4-7 record.
Globalport entered the game already out in the quarterfinal playoff race, but the Batang Pier players looked at the game with some positivity, including Terence Romeo, who is negotiating a contract extension as his current three-year deal will expire this October 31.
Meanwhile, Mahindra assistant coach Chris Gavina, who is calling the shots for the team in lieu of playing-coach Manny Pacquiao, was fined P20,000 by Commissioner Chito Narvasa for issuing comments detrimental to the PBA.
Mahindra import James White and teammate AJ Mandani were also penalized P7,500 each for their Flagrant Foul 1 (landing spot) in a game against Ginebra and Meralco, respectively.
Mahindra’s Mark Yee was likewise fined P5,000 for his F1 on Rain or Shine center Beau Belga. RoS rookie Mav Ahanmisi was levied P7,500 (landing spot) versus SMB, Sunday Salvacion P5,000 for his F1 against Meralco, and PJ Simon of Star for his F1 in a game versus TNT.
