DAVAO CITY – Police are set to file cases of multiple murder against at least eight suspects, one of whom has already been identified, in the September 2 blast at Roxas night market.
Senior Supt. Michael John Dubria, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) chief, announced in a press conference yesterday that they have already established the identity of one of the suspects based on interviews with at least 11 witnesses.
The survivors and their families have also been interviewed.
Police are seeking the affidavits of 69 wounded victims at the City Prosecutors Office.
One of the victims, Vicenta Asperin, recently passed away after days at the ICU of two hospitals.
Dubria said that the identity of the suspect and other details will be announced soon.
The police official also said information coming from the DCPO will be limited to the jurisdiction of the city.
Meanwhile, Dubria said CCTV footages in the blast area could not be used in the investigation of the incident because they have been damaged. (Yas “Xer Jason” Ocampo)
