DAVAO CITY – Vice Mayor Paolo Z. Duterte denied anew being involved in drugs based on the confession of Edgar Matobato, a self-proclaimed member of the Davao Death Squad.
“What De Lima and this certain Matobato say in public are bare allegations in the absence of proof. They are mere hearsay,” Vice Mayor Duterte said. “I will not dignify with an answer the accusations of a mad man.”
Vice Mayor Duterte is currently on leave, starting Thursday until Sept. 26.
Paolo recently tested negative in a drug test held earlier this month, along with 21 councilors present at the City Council.
Rep. Karlo Nograles, representative of the first district here, also agreed with the Duterte camp, denying Matobato’s claim that one of the supporters of former Congressman Prospero Nograles was killed by Duterte.
“I don’t know what this guy is talking about. From the time I was chief-of-staff to the time I was elected as congressman, no supporter of ours or persons under our employ was ever killed due to politics,” Nograles said.
