Powerlifter Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta failed to make it to the medal podium of the 86 kg event yesterday in the Rio Paralympic Games.
Hoping to add another medal to her 2000 Sydney Games bronze, Ancheta, 42, was unable to make a good lift in her three tries.
Ancheta attempted to do 112 kg for the first time and failed subsequently faltered lifting 116 and 121.
The gold medal was won by Nigerian Josephine Orji, the heaviest entry at 290 lbs, who produced a world record effort of 154 kg. The silver went to Marzena Zieba of Poland (134 kg) and bronze to Melaica Tuinfort of the Netherlands (130 kg).
Ancheta, the third heaviest bet at 242 lbs, wound up sixth among seven participants.
Originally from Ifugao province, the polio-stricken Ancheta was hoping to capitalize on the bronze medal win of table-tennis player Josephine Medina a day earlier.
