Already out of semifinal contention, the Stags still showed their aggressive plays against the Generals by maintaining the lead all throughout.
San Sebastian improved to 7-10, with six victories coming from the second round. The Stags have only one game left in the eliminations against Jose Rizal University.
Michael Calisaan bannered the Stags with a double-double effort of 22 points and 14 rebounds, outshining Cameroonian Hamadou Laminou of the Generals who finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
EAC dropped to 5-11 with two games left in the season against fellow eliminated teams College of St. Benilde and Letran.
The Stags led by as many as 20 points at the start of the fourth period when Jerick Fabian’s five straight points gave them a 72-52 lead. They refused to give up the upperhand and protected their double-digit edge until the final buzzer.
Fabian finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, even as Allyn Bulanadi also powered San Sebastian with 14 points.
Sidney Onwubere topscored for EAC with 19 points and seven boards before he was ejected from the game for receiving his second technical foul in the last 7:14 of the match.
