Ateneo had to come back on a Sunday after a big Saturday triumph to remain unbeaten in the Small Basketeers Philippines, while Adamson dealt San Beda College-Rizal its first loss while remaining unscathed in the Passerelle Division of the Best Center’s twin tournaments for kids over the weekend at the Xavier School gym.
Ateneo crushed San Sebastian College (2-3), 64-34, then escaped past a game Xavier A (4-1), 48-42, the following day to march to its fifth straight win in the seven-team Group B of the SBP tournament backed by Milo and supported by Chris Sports.
Ateneo’s dominance was felt on the weekend Lourdes School (3-2) smothered St. Mary’s School (0-6), 62-18, and Marist (3-2) clobbered SSC-R (2-3), 66-40.
In Group A, Claret (1-4) notched its first win at the expense of winless Notre Dame (0-5), 45-31, while La Salle-Zobel (3-2) zapped Xavier-B (2-3), 51-23.
Adamson also kept afloat with nary a scratch when it claimed its fourth straight win past SBC-Rizal (4-1) to lead Group B of the Passerelle.
La Salle Greenhills-B (2-3) clipped Notre Dame (1-5), 54-48, while Nazareth School of National university (4-1) quashed SSC-R (1-3), 75-57.
