The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) recently handed over to a women’s cooperative in Batangas a packaging machine to aid in their “tilanggit” livelihood project.
The Bilibinwang Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) from the agrarian reform community of Barangay Bilibinwang, Agoncillio, Batangas were given the vacuum packaging machine to ease up the processing of tilanggit or dried tilapia.
This is also in line with the BFAR’s Tulong Kabuhayan para sa Kababaihang Mangingisda (TKKM) project for those in coastal areas.
DAR Development Facilitator Cris Cabiscuelas of the Bilibinwang MPC said the machine is a great help to the cooperative in processing more tilanggit.
“We thank the DAR and BFAR for their effort to improve the cooperative, especially the women’s livelihood. This machine will surely boost their income,” Cabiscuelas said. (Vanne Elaine Terrazola)
