SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The brutal slaying of a Physical Education teacher and her 10-year-old son inside their house in Lubao is expected to get swift justice with the arrest of their alleged killer.
Twenty-one-year-old suspect Ronnel “Shaolin” Canilao was apprehended by operatives of Lubao Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by Chief Insp. Michael Masangkay, Lubao police chief, inside a motel in Barangay Sto. Tomas also in Lubao two days after he supposedly committed the crime.
Canilao later on admitted his guilt, saying that he raped 41-year-old victim Jenny Pineda-Garcia before stabbing her multiple times inside the victim’s home in the coastal area of San Jose Gumi here the other day.
He then killed Garcia’s son Dwayne Joss by slitting the boy’s throat.
The boy was supposed to celebrate his birthday the day they were brutally murdered.
After killing his victims, Canilao took Garcia’s cash worth P10,000, two mobile phones, and an IPad.
Soon after learning about the crime, Pampanga vice-governor Dennis Pineda offered a P50,000 bounty for the arrest of the suspect.
Canilao, who is said to be the son of the Garcia’s househelp, was nabbed at the Twin Peaks Hotel in Sto. Tomas in Lubao town, where two watches and a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the crime were recovered.
“Though this may be a rare case, we need to solve this immediately,” Pineda told mediamen.
Canilao, who is now detained at the Lubao Municipal Police Station will be facing charges of rape, homicide, murder, and robbery which is now being prepared by authorities. (FRANCO G. REGALA)
