Police raided a gambling den in Quezon City allegedly being run by a notorious drug pusher supplying drugs to dump truck drivers and garbage collectors in Payatas area.
Chief Inspector Roque Merdegia, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Anti-Transnational Crime (CIDG-ATC), however, said they were not able to arrest the suspect identified only as a certain Noe.
“Pursuit operations are now underway, he was injured during the shootout,” said Merdegia.
The official said the raid occurred on Saturday after they received reports of the illegal gambling activities in Barangay Payatas.
He said the modus operadi of the suspect is to allow access for local residents and garbage collection employees dumping garbage in Payatas to the videoke machines he is operating.
“Apparently the drugs users are frequent players of the machine and when they win they will buy shabu from Noe and use the same in the den,” said Merdegia.
The proof was the confiscation of some gambling machines and at least eight sachets of shabu withn a street value of P230,000.
The suspect, however, was able to escape after he shot it out with the raiding CIDG operatives.
“This alias Noe is reported to be the distributor of shabu in Payatas area and caters to the drug users garbage truck drivers and pahinantes,” said Merdegia.
The official said that if arrested, the suspect could provide vital information as to the captured of illegal drugs he has been selling.
Criminal charges were already slapped against alias Noe, including drugs cases. (Aaron Recuenco)
