Miguel Tanton scored a stoppage time winner as 10-man Kaya stunned defending champion Ceres-La Salle, 1-0, on Saturday in the United Football League at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The national team midfielder struck the game’s only goal in the first minute of added time with a weak left-footed shot off goalie Ed Sacapano to deal Ceres another blow in its title-retention bid.
Kaya solidified its hold of fifth place in the league table with 28 points in 15 matches while second placer Ceres remained six off Global in the title race at 32 points through 15 games.
Global is ahead with 38 points and was facing Green Archers United at presstime.
Kaya won despite losing Shirmar Felongco early in the game after he was booked a straight red card for a dangerous challenge against a Ceres player.
