Actor Jericho Rosales has admitted that he is uncomfortable with the Asian Drama King title because it gives him chaos and stress.
“Hindi talaga ako comfortable sa mga titulo. I’m just doing my job and I’m not going for titles. Kung ano man ang naging resulta nito sa amin, for me, it’s really a blessing. I feel so honored and thankful to ABS-CBN for opening doors for me. I feel proud and honored for the title, yes, because in a way, nakakapagbukas kami pati sa Pilipinas at sa ibang bansa. It’s a responsibility for me,” said Rosales, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN.
“But ’yung titles, it could be something temporary. I don’t want to be stressed na dapat ‘OK, ma-maintain ko ’yung title na ’yun.’ For me, it’s a cause for chaos and stress and I don’t want that,” Rosales said.
Rosales, 36, appeared on the late-night show to promote his new primetime teleserye called “Magpahanggang Wakas” where he plays Waldo, a fisherman who becomes an engineer. It also stars Arci Muñoz.
Of Muñoz, Rosales said: “Ang galing ni Arci as an actress. Ang lawak ng range nya.”
Rosales also said that his wife Kim Jones understands his work and she knows that the television series is sexy.
“It’s a sexy series but there’s more to it. It’s a big love story. And they happen to be passionate with each other.
Kim knows I’m professional. Mahirap ’yun …. 20 years in the business at natutunan ko na rin ’yun. You’re only human but mahirap gumawa ng mga sex scenes. May cameramen, may ilaw, may audio, may mga nanunuod, may videographer, tapos mainit and it’s your responsibility to make it look good or real,” he said.
“May mga times na macha-challenge ka talaga and you have to put that in your head. You have to understand why you’re doing that,” Rosales said.
“Si Kim kasi pag nakita nya at sinabi nya ‘may kissing scenes ka pero bakit parang naiilang ka?’ Pag half-baked ako, maiinis ’yun sa akin,” he added.
Rosales and Jones got married in Boracay on May 1, 2014. In September 2015, the actor said that he and his wife were not in a hurry to have a baby.
Rosales rose to fame when he won the Mr. Pogi contest of the noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga’ on GMA 7. His previous Kapamilya series include “Bridges of Love,” “Pangako Sa’ Yo,” “The Legal Wife,” “I Love Betty La Fea,” etc.
Rosales also appeared in movies. The last film he did was the blockbuster “Walang Forever” with Jennylyn Mercado, an entry to the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival.
The actor has been dubbed the Asian Drama King because of his popularity in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia where some of his teleseryes were shown. His other television series were later broadcast in Latin American countries.
“Kung alam ko lang na ipapalabas sa Spanish-speaking nations ’yung show ko, sana nag-aral na ako ng Spanish para madali ako magpromote ng show doon,” Rosales added.
