The Elorde brothers, Juan Martin ‘Bai’ Elorde, WBO Oriental lightweight champion and Juan Miguel ‘The Boss’ Elorde, WBO Asia Pacific Jr. featherweight champion, will appear in another blockbuster boxing promotion on Saturday at the grounds of the Café Lupe in Sumulong Highway, Barangay Mambugan, Antipolo in conjunction with the opening of another Elorde boxing gym in the building operated by Alvin and Albright Carranza.
Dubbed ‘Boxing Kontra Droga,’ this triple main event is promoted by businessman/sportsman Johnny Elorde in cooperation with Café Lupe , MacGraphics Carranz and the Rotary Club of Manila Premier headed by charter president Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
Bai Elorde will face veteran Boido Simanjuntak of Jakarta while younger brother Mig will battle tough Junior Bajawa, also of Indonesia, for 10 rounds in preparation for their title defenses scheduled sometime December, 2016.
Also bannering the slugfest is the much-awaited encounter for the vacant Philippine bantamweight title between Glenn Suminguit of Parañaque and Alvin Baes of Sarangani Province.
Up and coming Japanese fighter Kenta Ide faces Diover Mangaya-ay in six rounds to serve as an added attraction, while Jethro Tulod, the pride of Mandaluyong will have his professional debut fight against Joshua Asis of Las Piñas.
Six more bouts will complete the card which will start at 5 p.m.
The official weigh in will be held at the Elorde Sports Center on Friday, a day before the fight at 10 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.
