ZAMBOANGA CITY – Six armed men believed to be members of a kidnap-for-ransom group operating in the tri-boundary of Zamboanga Peninsula or Region 9 abducted a Filipino-Chinese trader of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.
Police Regional Director Police Chief Supt Billy Beltran identified the victim as Christina Yee known to locals as ‘Tinang’, 60 years old, widow and a businesswoman who owns Ben Yee store located in Sirawai town proper in Zamboanga del Norte.
Beltran said six armed men forcibly took Yee at her store in Sirawai proper and dragged her to a waiting pump boat that sped towards Sibuco town in the same province.
“As of now, we cannot say whose group is responsible in the kidnapping of Yee since nobody yet had claimed responsible in the abduction of Yee,” Beltran said.
Beltran however assured that authorities are now hot on the trail of the suspects.
“The only thing that I can tell you is that our policemen is now chasing and tracking them in Sibuco area. They are still in the area and were not able to leave the town yet due to big waves,” added Beltran. (NONOY E. LACSON)
