The former live-in partner of Quezon City councilor Hero Bautista went missing, police confirmed yesterday.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said they are now investigating the disappearance of Rio April Choi, 33. She has gone missing for a week.
Her mother, Emiliana Santos, reported last Sept. 14 to the QCPD’s Eastwood Police Station (PS-12) that Choi has gone missing.
Eleazar, according to the report, said Santos last saw and talked to Choi around 7:30 p.m. September 12 inside their unit.
Choi told her mother she will buy water and also meet someone at the building lobby before heading downstairs.
The woman had not come home since then. Santos said her daughter also has not called nor texted her.
Eleazar said he is yet to talk to Choi’s parents on Thursday as they launched their probe on her disappearance.
He also dismissed reports concluding Choi’s relation to Maritoni Fernandez’ slain sister Aurora Moynihan, saying they cannot yet establish direct links between the two.
He added, however, that they are considering the involvement of illegal drugs in the incident.
“Isa na rin yan sa mga iimbestigahan natin,” Eleazar told reporters in an interview.
Reports said Choi is the former live-in partner of Hero Bautista, brother of Quezon City Mayor Herbert Baustista who recently tested positive for drug use.
Eleazar said the case will be handled by the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
