Two motorcycle-riding armed men, who allegedly gunned down a man in a drug watchlist, were killed in a shootout with policemen in Pasig City before dawn yesterday.
Police identified the slain suspects as Romulo “Tikyo” Martin of Barangay Pinagbuhatan and Rigo Nolasco of Barangay Rosario, Pasig City.
The suspects were killed in an encounter with cops shortly after the duo shot dead victim Romeo Natural alias Boy Myrna, 52, while the latter was sleeping inside his home on Afable Street in Barangay Sagad. Natural was listed as drug pusher in Barangay Sagad’s watchlist.
Operatives of the Station Anti-Illegal Drugs (SAID) Unit of the Pasig City Police immediately chased the fleeing suspects after monitoring Natural’s death.
The cops caught up with the suspects on Jenny’s Avenue and reportedly tried to stop them but the latter opted to fire at the authorities.
The cops retaliated, killing the two assailants on site.
According to barangay tanods, Martin and Nolasco were listed as drug pushers in the watchlist of their barangays.
Authorities recovered two fired cartridge cases, a .38-caliber firearm, a .45-caliber pistol with ammunition, and 12 plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
Meanwhile, in San Juan City, authorities are still conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of security guard Louie Magdag who shot and killed police officer Abundio Panes while the latter was chasing a drug suspect inside a cockpit arena on Wednesday. (Jenny Manongdo)
