BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, has constructed a new schoolbuilding at Koronadal Southern Elementary School in Koronadal City, South Cotabato in partnership with the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc.
The structure was turned over to school administrators in inaugural ceremonies led by BDO Foundation program director Rose Espinosa, BDO Koronadal-R. Alunan Ave. branch operations officer Jinky Dizon, FFCCCII vice chairman Alfredo Ting, and Koronadal Southern Elementary School principal Miguel Cheng.
The project is in keeping with the disaster response advocacy of BDO Foundation and its efforts to reach out to beneficiaries in Mindanao.
Koronadal, home of the indigenous Blaan people, has been placed under a state of calamity earlier this year due to the effects of El Niño.
The project is also part of the foundation’s participation in FFCCCII’s Barrio Schools Program to address the shortage of classrooms in the country especially in marginalized areas. The school building in Koronadal is the 10th constructed under a grant in 2013 from BDO Foundation to FFCCCII.
