A woman and a three-year-old boy died while six others were injured after a wayward truck rammed stalls on Molino-Paliparan Road in Barangay Paliparan III, DasmariƱas City, Friday.
PO2 Ronald Manaig and Donato Almenario, case investigators, identified the fatalities as Luningning Cabarloc, 47, and minor Prince John Rivera Guardado.
Injured, on the other hand, were Arnold and Arthur, both surnamed Daguiling; Alan Estanol, 21; Rodelyn and nine-year-old Mitz, both surnamed Rivera; and Paul James Manalo, 20, truck helper.
Cabarloc and Guardado sustained head and body injuries and died on the spot. The injured were brought to a hospital in the city.
Investigation showed that the brakes of the Isuzu truck with license plates CXL-782 malfunctioned while approaching a traffic light.
It rammed a moving car and a motorcycle before crashing into the victims who were in the stalls and the electric post. The accident caused a power failure in the area.
Police arrested the truck driver, Manuel Clemente Cruz, 48, of Barangay San Fernando, Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
Cruz and the truck were brought to the city police station after the tragedy. Charges for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide, physical injuries and damage to property would be filed against Cruz. (Anthony Giron)
