Two members of a newly formed drug group were arrested after policemen raided their lair in Sitio Balagbag, Barangay Dita, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna recently.
Chief Supt. Roel Obusan, director of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, identified the suspects as Gonzalo Dictado and Ewin Dwyne Pascual.
Seized from the suspects was a .38 caliber revolver.
“Based on intelligence reports, the two are members of the newly-formed Hernandez Group operating in Sta. Rosa City and nearby areas,” said Obusan.
Obusan said they are now hunting down the leader and other members of the group.
The Philippine National Police has been all-out in the campaign against illegal drugs. The series of operations since July 1 this year has so far killed 1,216 and arrested 18,873 suspected users and pushers.
The anti-drugs war also forced more than 721,000 persons to surrender in various parts of the country.
Police have said that the ongoing war against illegal drugs war has been as an opportunity for suspected drug pushers to create their own group and replace those they arrested. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
