The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced the death of two drug suspects in an encounter with operatives of the Station Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group (SAID-SOTG) of Anonas Police Station (PS-9) in Quezon City yesterday.
Police Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, QCPD acting director, identified one of the two slain suspects as Romel Esguerra, 40, jobless, of No. B8C Employees Village, UP, Diliman, Quezon City.
His unidentified male companion, meanwhile, was described between 25 and 30 years old, about 5’7” in height, medium built, with a dragon tattoo under his right armpit and a star tattoo on his right wrist.
Eleazar said that based on a report he received, the encounter happened along Arburetum Forest in Brgy. UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City, at 2:45 a.m. yesterday.
Eleazar said a buy-bust operation was conducted against the two suspects who arrived at the place on a blue motorcycle with a police officer posing as a buyer.
During the transaction, the suspects sensed that they were dealing with police. They pulled out their guns, prompting the other operatives to retaliate, hitting them in the process. (Francis T. Wakefield)
