Multi-titled Chiang Kai Shek College streaked to its sixth straight win and clinched the No. 1 seed in the semis even as Hope Christian High School racked up two wins over the weekend in the 27th Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) at the CKSC gym in Manila.
Like in their last game against Hope Christian, the Blue Dragons needed one big run to dispatch the stubborn Manila Patriotic School, 62-58, thanks to the 19-point effort of John Martin Galinato.
Galinato was ably supported by Donn Spencer Lim who added 9 points, including a clutch basket that helped CKSC scuttle MPC’s determined comeback and secure the second semis berth.
Despite the loss, MPC, which drew 14 points from Paul Christian Ferrer, took the third semis with a 4-2 mark.
Meanwhile, Hope Christian, getting big games from Carmelo Joshua Noblefranca and Ryan Miguel Quiambao, improved to 5-1after trouncing St. Stephen High School, 72-39, last Saturday before downing MGC New Life Christian Acedemy, 89-67 last Sunday.
The loss dropped SSHS to a share of fourth to fifth places with St. Jude Catholic School at 3-3 in the tournament sponsored by Freego Jeans, World Balance and MEC Networks with Molten as official ball.
With Jayr Tuaño scoring 14 points, Philippine Sun Yat Sen drubbed PCHS, 66-31 for its fourth straight win in as many outings while Northern Rizal Yorklin School rode on the stellar showing of Richard Canoy and Christopher Belgar to beat Uno High school, 62-56 for an even 2-2 mark.
In the Developmental division, CKSC stretched its winning streak to five games with a 78-57 over Pace Academy while PHS beat PCC, 61-56 and MGCNL trounced St. Peter de Apostle School, 63-42.
