After dropping a personal conference best 42 points in the quarterfinal round, TNT KaTropa’s ace guard Jayson Castro proved what others already know – that he’s the best all-around player in the PBA.
Castro struggled offensively in TNT’s 113-93 Game 1 win against Meralco as he went just 3 of 15 from the field (including 1 of 6 from three-point territory) on the way to scoring 14 points.
However, the 5-foot-11 guard had a team high nine assists, four rebounds and three steals, despite ‘uncharacteristically’ turning the ball over five times in nearly 30 minutes of action.
Castro said that Meralco played good defense, but he is thankful to his teammates for stepping up.
“Maganda game plan nila sa’kin,” said Castro, whose 42 points against Phoenix in the quarterfinal was just two points shy of his career best 44 points which he established last season.
“Na-realize ko nung second half na kailangan ko na mag-adjust kasi naka-focus ang defense sa akin. Kailangan ko i-involve mga teammates ko, which is naging maganda naman,” he added.
