ZSA ZSA GABOR – Highspeed dwells on showbiz age and photoshop.
Some actresses give their showbiz age instead of actual age, at times at the order of their producers and managers. A starlet who was introduced a few years back then gives her age at 20. Now that she’s making a comeback she remains 20. She whispered to media friends, “Utos ng manager ko.” Well, at least she slashed from her actual age only a few years, three or four. Others deducted much more.
For example, many years back Hollywood actress Zsa Zsa Gabor gave her age at 40. Unbelievable. An enterprising columnist dug up her birth certificate back in Hungary where she was born. Turned out she was in her mid-50s, prompting the writer to joke, “If Ms. Gabor is really 40, then she reigned as Miss Hungary when she was not born yet.”
Zsa Zsa, still insisting she was 40, cried, “I’m ruined.” Well, she remained a newsmaker for many more years.

ELIZABETH TAYLOR – A friend one time attended a photo exhibit and noted that all the ladies in the portraits looked the same, “Parang mga kambal silang lahat.” Flawless complexion, perfect facial features, shapely figure. Well, thanks to photoshop: every blemish, extra pound, double chin were retouched.
Elizabeth Taylor, a goddess of beauty during her early Hollywood years, told photographers she was against photoshop, “Show all my wrinkles, I earned each one of them.”
To quote the elegant Audrey Hepburn: “The true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.”
By the way, dear friend Shirley Kuan texted the beautiful quote.
