CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – Two illegal drug pushers were killed in an encounter with policemen in Aringay town while another one was gunned down by vigilantes in Tubao town Friday.
Jerry Austria, who is said to be the number five personalitty in the drug watchlist of Caba, La Union and his companion Benjamin Lucena, a resident of Sta. Cruz, Laguna were both gunned down after they tried to evade a checkpoint Friday morning in Caba town.
The two were onboard a motorcycle when they shot it out with authorities.
Police recovered a pistol and several sachets of shabu from the slain suspects who suffered multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of their bodies.
Meantime in Tubao town, the fifth most notorious drug personality in this municipality was also killed, this time by two alleged vigilantes who were riding a motorcycle.
Pedro Padilla was said to be walking along Barangay Leones East around 7am Friday when he was shot six times by the suspects.
The killers used a .45 caliber pistol based on the empty shells recovered from the scene of the crime.
The war against drugs has resulted to several fatalities in this region which underscored the government’s all-out effort to rid the nation of illegal drugs. (Erwin Beleo)
