Veteran actress-politician Alma Moreno visited her son actor Mark Anthony Fernandez at the Angeles City police station in Pampanga last Wednesday night where he is detained after he was caught with a kilo of marijuana last Monday.
Moreno, 57, spent two hours with her son in the jail. She did not grant any interview at the police station.
It was reported that Moreno was given sedatives after her blood pressure went up as a result of her son’s arrest.
Mark Anthony, 37, is the son of Moreno and late actor Rudy Fernandez. Alma and Rudy had a long relationship but never got married. When they split, Rudy and actress Lorna Tolentino tied the knot in 2003. Rudy passed away due to periampullary cancer in 2008.
Grae Fernandez, son of Mark Anthony, also posted a touching message to his father on social media. He said: “No matter what people say about you, I will always be proud to be your son.”
Tolentino, stepmother of Mark Anthony, has raised concern over alleged human rights violation when the actor was presented to the media without any lawyer around last Tuesday.
It was reported that Mark Anthony had a first bout with drugs in 1996 following a downward spiral in his career and personal life.
He was rehabilitated and returned to show business. But in 2003, he underwent another rehabilitation for drug dependence. The actor was released and resumed his showbiz career.
In 2006, Mark Anthony was married to Melissa Garcia and they have two children. They have already separated. Mark Anthony is in a relationship these days with Diana, a fashion model.
Mark Anthony was recently seen in the popular Kapuso afternoon teleserye “Wish I May” and also appeared in the critically-acclaimed movie “Ma’Rosa,” the country’s official entry to the 2017 Oscar Awards Best Foreign Language category.
Robin Padilla
Action star Robin Padilla thanked authorities for handling the case of his nephew Mark Anthony after he was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana.
“Purihin ang Panginoong Maylikha, mahal kong Pamangkin… Nakahinga ako nang maluwag at naglulumuhod sa pasasalamat sa nag-iisang Dios na makapangyarihan at ikaw ay buhay, Mark. Hindi kami mapapatawad ng tatay mo kung may nangyaring masama sa iyo,” wrote Padilla on Facebook.
Padilla is first cousin of Rudy Fernandez. He also thanked Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
Later, Padilla posted an article on the benefits of marijuana. Mark Anthony was tested positive for marijuana use.
Mark Anthony gave conflicting reports about the marijuana that was found in his car during checkpoint. Initially, the actor said that he bought the marijuana for P15,000. Later, he said that it was planted.
