Inmate Jaybee Sebastian failed to attend the third hearing of the House Committee on Justice on the alleged illegal drugs trade at the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa due to his medical condition.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II said Sebastian is still recuperating from “punctured lungs.”
“May medical certificate na prinesenta hindi pa raw magaling ang sugat nya kasi napuncture ang lungs niya,” Aguirre told reporters in a press conference.
He disclosed that Sebastian is ready to “cooperate” with them but he would only testify on the food supply anomaly at the national penitentiary.
The Department of Justice Secretary said he rejected Sebastian’s offer, saying that he wanted the inmate to spill out all the beans on the drug proliferation at the NBP.
He said Sebastian even asked him to make his affidavit. “Sabi ko, anong sasabihin ko? kayo ang gumawa, yung totoo lang para maging katanggap-tanggap sa akin. Kung kulang ang ibibigay mo, hindi kita tatanggapin sa Witness Protection Program,” Aguirre said. (Charissa M. Luci)
