CAMP GEN.PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – Police arrested a total of 36 drug pushers and users on a single day Thursday, underscoring this province’s determination to put an end to its drug problems.
The arrests brought to 61 the number of drug suspects nabbed in operations since Monday.
Information officer Superintendent Janet L. Arinabo reported that the series of arrests were in line with the “Oplans Tokhang, Double Barrel, One Time, Big Time, and Lambat-Sibat”, the stiff drug program initiated by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa.
The simultaneous operations during the week were made in three districts and three cities and 12 municipalities while Thursday’s arrests were made in Imus, Bacoor, and Dasmariñas districts, Cavite City, Trece Martires City, Tagaytay City.
Police also conducted operations in several municipalities particularly General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Maragondon, Silang, Mendez-Nunez, Tanza, Rosario, Naic, Kawit, Amadeo, and Alfonso.
The PPO-PIO reported that charges were filed against all the drug suspects arrested during the week and are all detained.
Meantime, the number of chikungunya cases in Indang continue to increase as the mosquito-borne virus has reportedly reached another village in the first week of this month.
In its latest update last Oct. 4, the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PESU) said that the cases in Indang now totaled 512, up by 42 from the previous week.
The past report or morbidity week covering the Jan. 1-Sept. 27 period showed that there were 470 in the municipality with the cases mostly reported in Barangays Agus-os, Guyam Malaki, Guyam Munti, Calumpang Cerca, and Poblacion III. (Anthony Giron)
