It’s going to be a night of fast and furious MMA action as Ryan dela Cruz attempts to dethrone Do Gyeom Lee for the URCC featherweight crown on Nov. 6 at Resorts World Manila.
Known for his mean striking, Dela Cruz is coming off four straight stoppage wins but he will be up against a formidable foe in Lee, nicknamed ‘Kid Tornado.’
A special attraction is female striker Geli Bulaong, who meets Yan Qi Hui, a sanda expert aiming to become the first Chinese URCC titlist.
In another title fight, flyweight CJ ‘The Golden Boy’ De Tomas locks horns with Alvin ‘Kastigo’ Ramirez.
Dubbed URCC 28: Vindication, promoter Alvin Aguilar, who heads the Wrestling Association of the Philippines, feels next month’s card is only proof that the URCC remains the country’s premier MMA promotion.
“This is vindication because with the entry of MMA promotions that are well-funded, the URCC is still here. We are No. 1 rated MMA show. We have pure Filipino talents,” said Aguilar.
While the Dela Cruz vs Lee should live up to the hype, there is lots of anticipation over the three-on-three showdown between Team Chan and Team Estroso.
Very soon, Aguilar plans to bring in marquee names from overseas to spice up his future cards.
