Xavier School won the 2016 Private Schools Athletic Development Association (PRADA) Midgets crown in grand fashion by overpowering Don Bosco Makati, 88-67, in a one-game faceoff held recently at the San Beda College gym.
Xavier’s final win completed the team’s big sweep of the tournament after the Stallions won all their games in the elims that earned them an outright semis berth against Marist School.
Xavier’s desire to win the title was apparent right in the first quarter as the Stallions roared to a 17-0 lead – thanks to the efforts of Ryley Tuason, John Durante and Marcus Van Straten.
Aside from their torrid shooting, Xavier forced Don Bosco to commit numerous turnovers with its defensive pressure.
Tuason was almost unstoppable he scored 27 points with Van Straten and Keith Wongchuking combining for 21 points.
“Preparation is the key, and I would like to commend the boys for their efforts especially on defense,” said coach Dr. John Sy.
