Hope Christian High School outlasted Manila Patriotic School, 79-75, and arranged another title showdown with top seed Chiang Kai Shek College in the centerpiece Division A of the 27th Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) held recently at the CKSC gym in Manila.
After a cold start, Ryan Quiambao went berserk in the payoff period, scoring 11 points to help Hope Christian ward off MPS’ determined challenge and get a chance to get back at CKSC.
Quiambao went on to clinch the Freego Player of the Game after finishing with 19 points while Marvel Jimenez took the New Balance All-Around Player of the Game with 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
The CKSC Blue Dragons, on the other hand, cruised to the final by blasting St. Stephen’s High School, 68-39, with Rafaelo Toribio, Joshua Ramirez and Robert Minerva combining for 41 points.
Meanwhile, St. Stephen’s and CKSC forged a title duel in the Developmental division of the event sponsored by Freego Jeans, World Balance and MEC Networks with Molten as official ball by pulling off similar thrilling wins.
St. Stephen’s eked out a pulsating 48-45 win over Grace Christian College to earn the right to face CKSC in the one-game final.
The Blue Dragons advanced to the final with an 82-79 win over St. Jude Catholic School.
Pace Academy also reached the final of the Division B of the high school competition with a 67 win over St. Mary’s of Valenzuena in their playoff match thanks to the 21-point show of Pol Antiporda and all-around performance of the 6-foot-5 Shaun Geo Chiu.
In the final, Pace faces Phil. Sun Yat Sen School, a 90-84 winner over St. Peter Apostle School.
