BaliPure intensified its attack and dismantled all-Filipino team Air Force, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21, yesterday to pick up its second straight win in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Water Defenders relied heavily on import Katie Morrell and Dzi Gervacio to destroy the Lady Jet Spikers’ net and floor defense and improve their standings to 2-1.
Morrell fired 19 points while Gervacio chipped in 10 points while combining for 25 of the team’s 39 points for BaliPure, which also took advantage of Air Force’s 28 woeful errors.
Amy Ahomiro also stepped up for the Water Defenders with eight points as Coach Tai Bundit leaned on his starters for most parts of the 79-minute match.
Air Force dropped to 1-3 with Jocemer Tapic scoring 10 points, while the rest were limited to single digits.
In the Spikers’ Turf, Joven Camaganakan scored 18 points as Champion Supra bested 100 Plus, 25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14.
It was Champion’s first win after two defeats while 100 Plus absorbed its fourth consecutive loss.
Later in the night, University of the Philippines bounced back from third set meltdown with a strong start in the fourth then held off Team Laoag to hack out a 25-20, 27-25, 11-25, 25-20 victory and keep their slim semis hopes alive.
