A 23-year-old Psychology graduate, who got depressed after failing to pass the board exam, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the fourth floor of the Tropical Mansion Hotel on Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila, Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators identified the fatality as Joanna Gaytano, 23, a resident of 160 Guzman Street in Quiapo, Manila.
Victim’s mother Thelma, hotel’s front desk officer, told investigators that she was cleaning the fourth floor of the hotel with her daughter at about 1:40 p.m. when Joanna jumped to her death from an open window.
Still in shock, Thelma immediately asked the help of security guard Chruschev Palatao who joined her in bringing the victim to Manila Doctors Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries an hour after.
Thelma told police that Joanna became depressed after she failed to pass the recent Psychology Board Examination. (Analou De Vera)
