There are 20-25 species of bees. The most common and widely known among these is the Apis (bee) mellifera, the honey-bearing kind that we are most familiar with.
A starter colony box can house as many as 5,000 to 8,000 bees. All the Queen Bee does is to give birth. The Worker beepollinates. The Drone bee’s only purpose is to mate with the Queen bee, after which it then dies.
