VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council yesterday reported no casualties in three provinces in the Ilocos region from typhoon “Lawin” (international name “Haima”).
Director Melchito M. Castro, director of the Office of the Civil Defense in the Ilocos region and chairperson of the RDRRMC, attributed this to the resiliency efforts of Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis V. Singson, and La Union Governor Pacoy Ortega.
“Those reported casualties reported in La Union and other provinces are subject for validation and investigation whether or not they are related to typhoon Lawin,” Castro said.
