A suspected drug pusher was killed in a buy-bust operation after he reportedly fired at the police in Navotas City last Monday night.
Senior Supt. Dante Novicio, Navotas police chief, identified the suspect as Ronald “Tatong” Kalaw, 30, of Barangay San Jose, Navotas.
Investigation revealed that anti-illegal drug operatives transacted with Kalaw at about 10:45 p.m. on Bagong Silang St. in Barangay San Jose.
Novicio said that after Kalaw received the marked money from their undercover operative, other policemen went out to nab him. But instead of cooperating, Kalaw ran and went to his house.
Reports said that Kalaw was followed by the operatives. Kalaw, according to Novicio, fired at them when they asked him to surrender.
“We were left with no other choice but to shoot him. He shot at us first,” Novicio said. (Jel Santos)
