Eleven-year old Jean Romelind Iral of San Sebastian College ruled the intermediate division of the fifth batch of the Milo Checkmate year-round chess program held over the weekend at Robinson’s Place, Las Piñas.
Iral posted a total tally of 4.0 points after four rounds. In second place was her younger sister, 10-year old Jalen, while Kim Andreinelle Lavapiez took third place honors.
Other winners were: Beginners 1: 1st – Rayver Sancho; 2nd – Hans Mañalang; 3rd – Syrille Clark Raña; 4th – Curt Sebastian Fiedacan. Beginners 2: 1st – Jeremiah Garcia; 2nd – John Carlo Sabenario; 3rd – Godwyn Vilano; 4th – Jhon Mark Volante.

1st – Jean Iral; 2nd – Jalen Iral; 3rd – Elaine Conde; 4th – Sancho. 8-under: 1st – Michael Hizon; 2nd – Raña; 3rd – Ivan Charliemagne Parentela and 4th – Tatiana Mengullo.
