Dear Manay Gina,
I have a good friend who is a little unwise. She uncritically accepts crazy ideas and believes almost anything. But I do like her. The thing is, she has foolish schemes for starting businesses, etc, and nothing she dreams up has the remotest possibility of succeeding. I try to gently tell her that she is not thinking clearly. Can you help me understand her situation?
Grace
Dear Grace,
There are always going to be people who do whatever their potato chips tell them to do. It is sweet that you’ve maintained your friendship. Nothing you say, however, will “straighten her out” about any of her ideas, so try to focus your relationship on the agreeable aspects. As a friend though, you still have to mention your opinion to “correct” her about things you know to be childish.
Affectionately,
Manay Gina
