Director General Ronald de la Rosa, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), will grace the opening of the 24th Defense & Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) Part 2 on Nov. 10 at the Megatrade Hall B, SM Megamall, in Mandaluyong City.
De la Rosa will be accompanied by top PNP officials, including those from the Civil Security Group (CSG) under P/Chief Supt. Federico Dulay Jr. and Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) led by P/Chief Supt. Cesar Hawthorn Binag, when he attends the country’s most prestigious gun show for the second time this year.
It can be recalled that De la Rosa led the opening the 24th DSAS Part 1 last July 2016 and instructed the PNP-FEO to implement measures to facilitate the swift processing of applications for the License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and firearms registration.
At the opening of the DSAS Part 2, PNP chief is expected to expound before the public the significant reforms already undertaken by the PNP-FEO that eventually encouraged firearms owners to apply for LTOPF and renew their gun license.
Lawyer Hector Rodriguez, president of the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD), said that the DSAS, in partnership with the PNP, will again host the “Firearms Caravan” in assisting applicants of LTOPF and firearms registration in the processing of their documents at the event venue.
Personnel of the PNP-FEO, PNP-Crime Laboratory Service (CLS), PNP Health Service and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be stationed at the DSAS exhibit area for the Firearms Caravan.
Applicants for LTOPF and firearms registration are advised to visit the Facebook page of the Defense & Sporting Arms Show for the list of requirements needed for the gun licensing procedures.
Also, the PNP will also showcase vintage firearms in its booth at the events venue alongside the special display of armaments and ammunition being manufactured by the Department of National Defense (DND) Arsenal.
Meanwhile, AFAD will honor members of the Filipino contingent who raked 56 gold medals during the prestigious Australasia shooting competition held at Surubaya, Indonesia, last August 2016 as part of the highlights of the forthcoming DSAS event.
Among them were world shooting champions Jethro Dionisio, Roland Tan, Grace Tan, and Edward Rivera who were featured on the campaign posters for the November 10-14 gun show.
