Two teams are reportedly interested in getting the services of KG Canaleta after his contract with the Mahindra Floodbuster expired on Halloween.
One of them is said to be the Globalport which gave a tryout to the five-time Slam Dunk champion who helped his previous team make the PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs this year.
But a disagreement over salary is holding back the signing of a contract as Canaleta reportedly is asking for the maximum P420,000 monthly salary which he received from Mahindra and which Globalport reportedly was not ready to give. It was not divulged how much Globalport was willing to offer but a person close to Canaleta said the player believes he deserved the maximum salary.
“Kumbaga itu-tuloy lang naman sana kung ano yung nakukuha ni KG sa Mahindra,” said a source privy to the negotiation but who requested anonymity. Other sources said Alaska is also interested to get Canaleta’s service.
The 12-year veteran averaged nearly 12 points and four rebounds per game for Mahindra, which acquired him from NLEX in a three-team trade that involved TNT last year.
