Games Today
(Philsports Arena, Pasig City)
12:30 p.m. – Champion vs Air Force (m)
4 p.m. – BaliPure vs Coast Guard (w)
6 p.m. – UST vs Pocari (w)
Pocari Sweat and University of Santo Tomas dispute the No. 1 seed in the semifinals when they clash today in the resumption of the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Their match is set at 6 p.m. with the Lady Warriors and the Golden Tigresses toting identical 5-1 records.
UST enters the game still on a high after capturing the University Games title by beating University of Perpetual Help in Dumaguete City.
The Tigresses hope to use that title romp to their advantage even as they face an import-laden Pocari squad that has won its last five games.
Pocari’s latest win came last Saturday when it beat BaliPure, 25-16, 12-25, 25-21, 25-19.
Hard-hitting American import Breanna Mackie and Myla Pablo combined for 34 points against BaliPure and are once again expected to lead the squad alongside skipper Michele Gumabao, libero Melissa Gohing, and Iris Tolenada.
Out to banner UST are EJ Laure, Cherry Rondina and Ria Meneses, who conspired for 49 points in the team’s 25-22, 25-27, 18-25, 27-25, 15-12 victory over Laoag last Oct. 19, its final match before the Unigames.
Meanwhile, BaliPure eyes a share of second place as it plays winless Coast Guard in the 4 p.m. opener.
A win for the Water Defenders would arrange them a tie with Bureau of Customs and the loser between the Pocari-UST tussle. The placing will be determined through quotient system.
