Pocari Sweat and BaliPure try to arrange a championship duel today when they go for series-clinching wins against separate rivals in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Lady Warriors and the Water Defenders drew first blood in their best-of-three semifinal series after pulling off similar straight set wins last Saturday.
No. 1 Pocari edged University of Santo Tomas, 25-16, 25-18, 25-22, while BaliPure overpowered Alyssa Valdez-led Bureau of Customs, 25-19, 25-18, 25-21.
Pocari hopes to duplicate that convincing win against UST in Game 2 of their series set at 4 p.m., while BaliPure also hopes for a repeat against Customs in their 6 p.m. tussle.
Expect Pocari to lean anew on its American imports Breanna Mackie and Andrea Kacsits, who provided firepower and stability against an all-Filipino side.
Mackie and Kacsits combined for 39 points in Game 1, and they are again expected to lead the team’s assault.
Apart from foreign reinforcements, the Lady Warriors also have reliable locals in Michele Gumabao, libero Melissa Gohing, and Myla Pablo.
