2 p.m. – UB vs. Olivarez
Nigerian Ikee Akpuru scored in the last 2.2 seconds to lift Technological Institute of the Philippines to an 85-83 win over Bulacan State University Gold Gears and boost its semis bid in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League yesterday at the Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque City.
The 6-foot-5 Akpuru shattered an 83-all count with strong drive to the basket, helping the Engineers notch their sixth win in eight games.
“We had a hard time in this game. Unlike in our first game, it’s different now. They (BulSU) improved a lot and they gained confidence now. We need really to work more if we have to be in the Final Four,” said TIP coach Potit de Vera.
In the second game, Jayboy Solis, Richard Singh and Pruvil Bermudez combined for 36 points as Olivarez College Sea Lions reaffirmed its mastery over Colegio de San Lorenzo, 71-66, and stayed in the hunt for semis bid.
