ACTRESS-television host Kris Aquino described the last-minute cancellation of President Rodrigo Duterte of a one-on-one interview with her as an epic snub.
“Humble and realistic enough that it was an epic snub,” said Aquino on Instagram one day after President Duterte failed to show up for an exclusive interview in Davao City.
Last Friday, Nov. 11, Aquino was scheduled to have a one-on-one interview with Duterte. But the President did not attend the planned interview in what could have been the television comeback for the sister of former President Benigno Aquino III.
Fans of Aquino have expressed support to the TV personality who was disappointed with cancellation of the exclusive interview. The one-hour interview was supposed to be aired on TV 5 and PTV 4.
Despite the snub, Aquino said that she is still looking forward to meet Duterte.
“President Duterte, please give me a chance. I hope one day mamahalin mo rin ako,” said Aquino, moments when she learned that Duterte will not show up for the televised interview.
Aquino said that she prepared for the scheduled meeting with the feisty President.
“Alam n’yo po I was excited just like you. I thought this would be an opportunity, pero minsan ang mga first date hindi natutuloy,” she said.
“President Duterte, pinaghandaan kita. Nag-diet ako ng dalawang linggo. Twenty-six na lang po ang beywang ko ngayon.
Sisiguraduhin ko pong maging 25” para sa next time na pagkikita natin,” she added.
The Palace said that Duterte skipped the meeting because he was not feeling well. That time, the President had just arrived from his trips to Malaysia and Thailand.
Palace officials have yet to issue a statement if the interview of Aquino will still push through.
